As to the pronunciation of「き」(ki), there are many homonyms such as「樹」(tree),「機」(opportunity),「器」(vessel),「期」(time),「季」(season),「気」(feeling), etc.
Therefore, I would be pleased if you consider the above haiku as a pun, taking the Meimuna opalifera as a metaphor.

The word “五ほう” can express various meanings, depending on kanji (漢字：Chinese character) such as “五方: five directions”, “語法: grammar”, “誤報: misinformation”, “護法: defence of Buddhism", "後報: trtribution”, etc.

広島のこの原爆慰霊碑の「過ちは繰返しませんから」の主語は、「私たち」でしょうから、世界の政治経済、文化スポーツ、宗教など、各界の指導者は一度は広島を訪ねて、この慰霊碑に祈りを捧げ、平和の誓いをして欲しいものです。
この慰霊碑は、ある意味で一種の踏み絵になるのではないでしょうか？

These pictures, which show a mantis attempting to catch a cicada, may remind you of the historical allusion “蟷螂窺蟬”.
Upon murmuring “Escape” by L.P. Lovee, the cicada safely flied away.

7月13日(日)に、万博会場の広場でブルーインパルスの曲芸飛行を見て、吟行句(まんぽ俳句)を作り、万博紹介の「写真俳句」を23句掲載しました。
写真に俳句を書込んでいますので、写真をタップ拡大して最後までご覧頂き、慰みや何らかの参考にして頂ければ幸いです。
この３枚の写真は、夢洲駅の改札を出て万博会場の東ゲ－ト前広場を目指す人波などです。
12時入場の予約で、11時45分頃に夢洲駅の改札出口から万博会場へのエスカレーターに乗りましたが、駅舎を出ると、長蛇の列が何列あるか分かりませんが、行きつ止まりつ、渦のように移動し、入場出来たのは午後１時過ぎでした。
猛暑にも拘わらず、熱中症にならずに約１時間半の渦のような行列を凌ぎ入場して、ブルーインパルスの曲芸飛行を見ることが出来たのは、事前に飲み物(ポカリスエット等)と日傘、携帯用の椅子を準備して活用したからです。

The word “kaeribana” means a flower that is unusually in bloom in winter, although it normally blooms in spring, such as dandelion and cherry blossoms.
There is another seasonal word "kuruizaki", which is equivalent to "kaeribana" but which has quite a different nuance, literally meaning "crazy flower".
This is a picture showing a part of NHK TV news, which I saw in the morning on January 29. 2025.
You might think that some of the occurences, such as abolishment of "DEI", are equivalent to "kaeribana" or "kuruizaki".
"DEI" stands for "Diversity", "Equity" and "Inclusion".

The word "や" (ya) in the above haiku has two functions:
"exclamation" and "pause".
A pause is an essential facter in the Japanese conventional haiku, in which brevity and rhythm are important.
You will notice a big difference in length between Japanese and English in the above haiku.
To enjoy haiku, it is advisable for you to learn the Japanese language.

“kozokotoshi” is a kigo (= season word made by Kyoshi Takahama) referring to New Year, since on the first day of January, yesterday is the last year, whereas today is this year.
Kyoshi's famous haiku in question "kozokotoshi tsuranukubohno gotokimono" is translated by L. P. Lovee as follows:

It seems that Kyoshi intended to express two meanings by omitting the subject in the Japanese original haiku in question.
To really appreciate Kyoshi’s Haiku, it is essential for a reader to understand the original haiku in Japanese.
