法要で久しぶりに白毫寺にお参りし、太鼓橋や心字池を眺めて幼少の頃遊んだ思い出に暫し浸りました。
親族だけでなく住職さんとも般若心経やブログなどの話をして絆を新にし、有意義な一日に満足でした。
NHKのBS放送の「日本縦断 こころ旅」で9月3日に白毫寺のことも放映されるそうで、楽しみにしています。

Why don’t you love yourself?
To practice LOVE is to enjoy your life.

In this blog, the 4 letters constituting the word LOVE represent the following 20 words for making your life happy.

・L stands for Love, Learn, Liberty, Legality, and Laugh.
・O stands for Optimism, Originality, Objective, Obligation, and Opportunity.
・V stands for Vitality, Vision, Venture, Value, and Volunteer.
・E stands for Effort, Enjoy, Ethic, Equity, and Endurance.
Love exists between parent and child, man and woman, husband and wife, etc. Here, the love is expected to exist not only between people, but also between you and whatever you may have interest in. That is, you may love yourself, your school, job, pet, hometown, nation, nature, etc. It is an ideal that loving yourself lead to loving others, your town, nature, and world peace.
You can learn from anyone and anything as a good or bad model. There are many things to learn from your parents, friends, teachers, books, newspapers, TV, Internet, etc. The fault of another is a good teacher. It is also important to learn from your own failure or success.
The freedom of thought, speech, religion, etc. is guaranteed to all by the constitution as fundamental human rights. However, if you abuse the freedom, you might lose it. It is important to give consideration to the balance between right and duty or equity between an individual (yourself) and the whole (society or nation).
You may freely do anything as you like, provided that the act is right under laws and equity. Since laws are established for maintaining social order and protecting people, it would be unnecessary to give special consideration to legality in your ordinary life as far as you act according to your conscience. However, it is advisable to confirm whether it is lawful when you intend to do anything special.
Laugh and get fat. Fortune comes in by a merry gate.
It would be alright to cry whenever you cannot but do so. However, if you do not forget to keep a smile even under hardship, someday a good fortune would smile on you.
・Optimism
Joy and sorrow are today and tomorrow. There would be peaks and valleys in your life. Be optimistic. You would succeed somehow someday if you steadily make efforts. Do your best and leave the rest to Heaven. It is advisable to practice so-called plus-thinking or positive thinking.
Since no one is the same with you in the world, bring out the best in yourself. At the present age, diversities are to be appreciated. It would be an ideal if what are done by various individuals bring out a kind of positive harmony as the whole.
It is important to objectively evaluate your object how it can be attained. The higher your target, the more steadily your advancement should be made step by step. Rome was not built in a day. Don’t expect to quickly achieve a high objective.
It’s quite natural to help each other. The society is maintained according to the principle of give-and-take. It is essential to concede the right of others as well as to assert your own right, considering the balance of mutual relations.
Now or never. Everything has its time. It is important to act in a manner suitable to TPO (time, place, and occasion).
Without willingness and vitality, you cannot achieve any objective. It is essential to maintain mental and physical health to accomplish what you want to do. Overdone is worse than undone. Once in a while, you might have to exhaust yourself to complete what you are doing beyond your usual power. In daily life, however, you had better refrain from overworking.
According to Yukio Ozaki, who was looked up as "the champion of constitutional government", the stage of your life will always exist in the future. It is advisable that your act be done in consideration of world peace as well as your own happiness, always in perspective of the past, present, and future.

It is important to think carefully before taking your action. However, it is also important to venture to do what you might consider as too difficult. Your success will depend on your fortune as well as your ability and efforts. It would be advisable to act resolutely after thinking of both the best case where everything goes well and the worst case where the fortune is against you.
People have their respective sense of values, which may be different from each other. It is advisable to establish your objective according to your desire after paying due respect to the wishes of your parents.
Whenever you voluntarily carry out what you want to do, any hardship would become a pleasant one rather than unbearable one. It should be appreciated that there are many young people who are engaged in volunteer activities. It would be great if what you have volunteered to your own benefit results in benefitting others.
Your genius would not come into full bloom without your efforts. By any chance your gifted talent might be less than that of others, but you can develop it into full bloom by efforts. Make effort to develop your gift, since God only knows the extent of your talent.
If you try various ways for doing anything, an effort will become a pleasure rather than a difficulty. The pleasure will enable you to continue to make efforts. You can enjoy results of your efforts sooner or later.
In the present-day society which relies on highly advanced and specialized technologies, it is essential that all people, particularly specialists and leaders, conduct themselves with ethics. It is regrettable that there are not a few people who ruin not only themselves but also the welfare of other people by unethical conduct.
Fortune waits on honest toil and earnest endeavor. To make the best use of your talent and effort, it is desirable to consider your aim in terms of equity. Your fair behavior will make youself bright and happy. The happy feeling will surely bring you good fortune.
In the rich modern society, there are too many goods and attractions that interest young. It would be difficult for children and teens to endure without making use of them.
For example, the development of IT and SNS has brought demerits as well as merits. One of the demerits is that children and teens tend to excessively engage in communications and social games through SNS.
Thus, it is also important to teach them endurance. Consider the following proverbs: “What is learned in the cradle is carried to the grave."; “Out of temper, out of money.”

人生を豊かにするキーワードを24個に増やし、その頭文字を「LOVE」に当てはめました。
チュヌの主人は、かって結婚式のスピーチを頼まれ、「幸せな人生のキーワードはLOVEである」として、幸せを呼ぶ８個のキーワードの頭文字をLOVEに振り当て、新郎新婦の幸せを祈るとともに自戒の言葉としていました。
その後「LOVE」に含めるキーワードを16個に増やして、このブログ「チュヌの便り」に掲載したので読んで頂いた方もあると思います。
先日の朝日新聞のWeb版に「根性だけじゃない ピンチ救う、甲子園必笑術」という記事がったので、予てから考えていた「Laugh」などの言葉を追加してLOVEのキーワードを20にすることにしました。
どんな言葉が含まれるか、クイズ感覚で気軽に読んでみて下さい。

・「V」はVitality（活力・元気）・Vision（ビジョン・先見性）・Venture（冒険・思い切ってする）・Value（価値・評価）・Volunteer（ボランティア・自発性）です。
・「E」はEffort（努力）・Enjoy（楽しむ）・Ethic（倫理・道徳）・Equity（公平・公正）・Endurance（忍耐・持続）です。
・Love（愛）
親子の愛、男女の恋愛、夫婦の愛など人に関する愛のみならず、動物、自然、故郷、住んでいる町や国、平和、自分の仕事など全てが対象です。まず自分を愛し、自分のしていることを愛し、その結果が他者への愛、すべてのものに対する愛につながることが理想です。
・Learn（学ぶ）
教師や反面教師として、全てのことから学ぶことが出来ます。
身近な両親、兄弟姉妹、友達、先輩・後輩、先生などから直接学ぶことが沢山あります。書物や新聞・ラジオ・テレビ、インターネットなどで地域と時代を超えて様々なことを学ぶことができます。また、自分自身や他人の失敗や成功の実例から学ぶことも大切です。
・Liberty（自由・権利）
基本的人権として思想・言論・信教の自由などが憲法で保障されています。しかし、自由の権利を乱用すると、自由を失う恐れがあります。常に権利と義務、個（自分自身）と全体（社会・国）、公平・公正の原則とのバランスを考慮することが肝要です。多くの若者が選挙権・参政権の行使を放棄していることは幸福を追求することを放棄していることになるのではないかと危惧しています。
・Legality（合法性）
自由に考え行動すれば良いのですが、それが法律に適っていることが前提です。法律は人々の生活を守り社会の秩序を維持するためのものですから、日常生活で余り難しく考えることは無いでしょう。しかし、何か特別のことを始める時にはそれが合法的かどうかチェックすることも必要でしょう。
・Laugh（笑う）
「笑う門には福来たる」（「Laugh and get fat.」「Fortune comes in by a merry gate.」）です。
泣きたいときには泣くとよいでしょう。でも、辛い時でも笑顔を忘れずに前向きに過ごして行けばきっと良い時も来るでしょう。
・Optimism（楽観主義）
「人間万事塞翁が馬」（Joy and sorrow are today and tomorrow.）、「人生は山あり谷あり」、「努力をすれば何とかなる」、「人事を尽くして天命を待つ」と楽観的に考えることです。いわゆるプラス思考・ポジティブシンキング（positive thinking）を実践することです。
・Originality（個性・独創性）
世界に一人しかいない自分という貴重な存在を活かしましょう。単なる「猿真似」や「迎合」ではなく、人それぞれに出来ること・天性・個性を生かして、学んだことを更に発展させ実践することです。現代は多様性の時代です。様々な個性が集まって全体の調和が生まれることが理想です。
・Objective（目標・客観的）
将来何をするか自分の目標を定める際に、それを達成することが可能か、楽観的に考えると同時に、冷静に客観的に評価しておくことも大切です。高い目標を掲げることは良いのですが、目標は高ければ高いほど成果の高望みをしないでstep-by-stepで一歩ずつ前進することです。
・Obligation（義務・義理）
「世の中は持ちつ持たれつ」、「お互い様」です。自己の権利を主張するばかりでなく、義務もあることを認識して他者の権利・立場も認め、自他のバランス（Give-and-take）を考えることが大切です。
・Opportunity (機会・好機）
「好機逸すべからず」です。英語のことわざには「Now or never.」とか「Everything has its time.」などがありますが、機会をとらえTPO（時と場所と場合）を考えて適切な行動をすることが大切です。
・Vitality（活力・元気）
何事もやる気と元気がなければ達成出来ません。精神的にも肉体的にも健康を維持することが大切です。「過ぎたるは及ばざるがごとし」です。時には無理が必要なこともあるでしょうが、頑張りすぎないで、自分の出来る範囲でやれば良いでしょう。
・Vision（ビジョン・先見性）
「憲政の神様」と言われた尾崎行雄は「人生の本舞台は常に将来に在り」と言っています。自分は何をしてきたか、今何をすべきか、自分の将来の目標は何か、自分の人生のどの時点でも、常に過去・現在・未来という流れの中で自分自身と社会の将来を見据えて考え・行動することが理想です。
・Venture（冒険・思い切ってする）
慎重に考えて行動することも大事ですが、難しいと思うことでも時には思い切ってやって見ることも必要でしょう。成功するか否かは自分の才能や努力のみならず運に左右されるものです。最もうまく行く場合と最悪の場合とを考え、腹を据えて思い切って行動すると良いでしょう。
・Value（価値・評価）
光があれば影があり、物には表裏がありますが、それぞれに価値・意味があります。時と場合によって人の価値観は異なりますが、自分にとって何が大切か、何をしたいか、それは自分のためだけではなく、親のためや人のために役立つことになるか、と考えながら目標を立て・行動することが大切です。
・Volunteer（ボランティア・自発性）
何事でも自分のしたいことをするときは苦労が苦労でなく、楽しくなります。最近はボランティア活動をしている若者も沢山いることはありがたいことです。自分が出来ることを自発的に行い、自分のみならず人のためにもなり、世の中に役立つことができれば最高です。
・Effort（努力）
天賦の才に恵まれていても努力をしなければその才能を生かすことは出来ません。ささやかな才能であっても努力することによって、それを伸ばすことが出来ます。大切なことは他者との比較や序列・勝ち負けそのものではなく、それを励みとして自分自身の天分を育てる努力をしているかどうかです。
・Enjoy（楽しむ）
努力も色々工夫しながらすると、苦労でなく楽しみとなります。楽しみながらすると努力を続けることが出来ます。少しでも努力の成果が出ると楽しくなります。すぐに成果が表れなくても長い目で見れば必ず成果が出て来るものですから、それを楽しみに努力を続けることです。
・Ethic（倫理・道徳）
技術が高度に発達し専門化している現代社会においては個人や法人・組織が倫理を大切にして活動することが不可欠です。最近の世相をみると、長い間に築いた信用を倫理観の欠如から一瞬に失い、自滅するだけでなく社会に大きな弊害をもたらしている例が少なくないことは残念なことです。
・Equity（公平・公正）
才能や努力の成果を生かすには考え方や行為が公正であることが大切です。どのような場合でも公正かどうかという観点でチェックすることが望まれます。公明正大な振舞いをすることによって明るい気持ちが維持できます。明るい気持ちは必ず幸福を呼び込むでしょう。
・Endurance（忍耐・持続）
豊かな現代社会においては何でも簡単に出来、手に入るので誘惑が多く、我慢することが難しくなっています。
ITやSNSが発達し便利になっていますが、スマホによるゲームの氾濫や不適切な交流サイトなど子供の教育や十代の若者の新たな社会問題になっています。
「三つ子の魂百まで」、「継続は力なり」です。大きくなってから抑えることは難しくなりますので幼い時から我慢することのしつけをしておくと良いでしょう。
上記のことは、ご存知のことばかりでしょうが、LOVEという一語にそれを集約して覚えやすくしたのが味噌です。
「LOVE」を実践する幸せな人々が増えて住みよい社会が世界に広がることがチュヌの主人の念願です。

チュヌは膵炎になったが、大分元気になり病院の近くを散歩しました。
待合室に居たパピーちゃんの写真を掲載します。可愛いリボンを付けていたのでヨークシャーテリアの女の子かと思ったら、もうお爺さんだそうです。チュヌは暫くシャンプーをしていないので写真を撮ってもらっていません。
