観音のいらかみやりつ花の雲

(kannon-no iraka-miyaritsu hana-no-kumo)

the cherry blossoms

looking like clouds_

the tiled roof of the kannon-temple

It is said that Bashō composed this haiku while he was ill in bed in his hermitage, watching the roof of Sensoji in Asakusa.
