俳句 365 haiku (105) 《春の夜 Bashō》
春の夜は桜に明けてしまひけり
(haru-no-yo-wa sakura-ni-akete shimaikeri)
(芭蕉)
the spring night
has turned to dawn,
while viewing the cherry-blossoms
(Lovee)
(Note)
I assume that Bashō omitted real subuject (Bashō himself) in this haiku.
Accordingly, in this translation, the subject "I am" is omitted after the word "while" in the subordinate clause.
