俳句 365 haiku (131) 《粽 Issa》
粽とく二階も見ゆる角田川
(chimaki-toku nikai-mo-miyuru sumidagawa)
(一茶)
unwrapping a chimaki
on a second floor, also visible_
Sumida-river
(Lovee)
(Note)
The word “chimaki” means a kind of rice-dumpling wrapped with a bamboo grass leaf.
It seems that Issa expressed the broadness of Sumida-river or crowdedness around the Sumida by the words “second floor also visible”, whereas generally a first floor only is visible from a small river.
